The Global Young Leaders Conference 2017

Students are nominated to participate as a Global Scholar representing Canada at the Global Young Leaders Conference.  The conference requires students with strong leadership potential and high academic excellence.  It is open to all students who will be between 15 – 18 years old in July 2017.
In Washington DC, students will visit international embassies, participate in Global Issues Workshops, and study the art of cross-cultural communication.  In New York City, they will engage with a United Nations speaker, draft policy proposals, debate issues, and work to pass resolutions, all of which will culminate in the Global Summit simulation, which may be held at the United Nations Headquarters.

This conference is a great opportunity to expand a student`s cultural awareness and cultivate their inherent leadership skills as they interact with students from more than 145 countries. Students will form new ideas and new ways of thinking by participating in simulations that challenge them to look at ongoing world issues from varying points of view.

A few students from OT have attended this conference in the past and have found it to be  an amazing experience.  By attending the conference, students may also receive a college credit through George Mason University.
